TeraCopy 4 *extremely* slow to start transfer

I have been a long time TeraCopy 3 free user. Rarely if ever had issues. I jumped on the 4 Pro deal, have it installed. When I try to copy or move any files, it often takes 5-10 seconds for the file handler to display and start transferring. It is super laggy and is killing my productivity. I tried adding an exclusive in Defender. I am at a loss at what else to do.
